We're going to listen back to an interview with Terry Jones, a member of the British comedy troupe Monty Python, who died last night at the age of 77. The huge loss has been met with people reminiscing about, and sharing, Jones’ work, including this early sketch taken from ‘Whither Canada’, the first episode of Monty Python’s Flying Circus (watch above). I think it go - I can't remember. He was 77. Now go away.JONES: (As Mandy Cohen) I'm his mother, that's who.UNIDENTIFIED ACTORS: (As characters) Behold his mother. Their groundbreaking TV show, Monty Python’s Flying Circus, combined quietly uproarious sketches with rapidfire wordplay, historical jokes and Gilliam’s surreal animation. Visit our website

Jones, a founding member of the Monty Python comedy troupe, has died at 77. Remembering Terry Jones. But as we went on, it was very much Mike and I would write separately, then we'd meet together, the two of us, read out what we've got, criticize, maybe swap over what we'd got and so carry on where the other one had left off, kind of like consequences, really. And usually, I didn't know where it comes from. I learned this lesson.

Born in born in Colwyn Bay, North Wales on February 1, 1942, Terry was first introduced to absurd comedy as a child through the iconic 1950’s radio program, The two wrote and performed in revues at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and got jobs out of college writing for shows such as the satiricalDuring the Pythons’ years on television, Mr. Jones appeared in many memorable sketches as a cheeky (pardon the pun) nude organist, the Spanish Inquisitor Cardinal Biggles, the Spam waitress and composer Arthur “Two Sheds” Jackson.Once the sextet ventured into the world of films, Terry took on additional role, that of director. His family said he died “after a long, extremely brave but always good humored battle with a rare form of dementia, FTD".

So when we actually came to doing "Python," I was by this stage sort of very keen to sort of keep an eye on what the director was doing. I sleep all night, and I work all day. A beloved comedian, a brilliant writer & director, and a creative powerhouse – Terry Jones was one of a kind. On tomorrow's show, our guest will be veteran journalist David Rohde, who writes about Attorney General William Barr in The New Yorker. I remember with the Mr. Creosote sketch, I remember sitting down with a blank piece of paper and writing at the top, a sketch in the worst possible taste. The mission of Monty Python, the influential comedy troupe of which Jones was a founding member, was to be “unpredictable” and “unquantifiable,” he said at a reunion in 2009. He directed Monty Python’s Life of Brian while also delivering one of the film’s funniest lines, dressed as a mother and declaring, “He’s not the Messiah, he’s a very naughty boy!”Beyond the bounds of Pythondom, Jones wrote numerous books, published essays against the Iraq War and drafted the screenplay for David Bowie’s cult classic Labyrinth.

And you couldn't do the shot. I mean, I wrote with Mike Palin most of the time.
