The experience outways any sense that you are going to fall or be in danger. It's maybe 10 feet in the air, the 1st row is probably 25-30 feet above ground and the 2nd row is maybe 20-22 feet above the floor.

It's a fantastically fun ride. I have issues with being launched and dropped quickly - which is strange as I love Mission Space. When you enter, you choose between Mission But the rumor is completely false that the original version has been toned-down ... Mission Orange is the same experience as it was on Opening Day. My mom read in Birnbaum's book not to ride Soarin if you have a heart condition. She is scared of heights. It's not scary or dangerous at all. I never did that in the original, except the first time going over the snowy mountaintop and feeling like I might fall off the other side.

It is pretty spectacular.

It's a really gentle ride I think. It isn't scary or dangerous at all. My first thought was,"Holy Crap!

I did not think so.

If you are in the first row you do go up in the air pretty high. It is neither scary or dangerous - it is all illusion.

After that, there is very gentle rocking/swaying of the seats, but you feel like you are really flying. But my mom is deathly afraid of heights (and has vertigo) and she rode Soarin' with no problems. Does anybody find the new Soarin a little scary? It's very much a sensory ride.

Didn't bother him one bit. If you get motion sickness from watching home movies, you probably shouldn't ride it. I fear there's been some confusion and misinformation in this thread, and if I may I'd like to clear it up.Mission:Space does not need to be a nausea and headache inducing experience. I got on the ride and when I noticed it had no hand bar, I got nervous! It does give sensation that you are flying and are actually there as you "soar" over scenery. While *I* don't find it scary, I can totally see someone with a fear of heights being uneasy with it (and making their heart race), or even someone who gets motion sickness. No one was nervous at all. If you or your mom were to ride feel like it's too much, I think closing your eyes would help a lot.

I found myself closing my eyes quite a few times. !Enjoy the rides. It was wonderful. The only thing that made me uneasy was the initial bit when they move you into position - it was only the uncertainty that made my heart leap! But there is nothing scary at all. It will be so fun. Your feet dangle below you and you can feel you seats moving/tilting ever so slightly in sync with the video. It's DH is afraid of heights and it never occurred that he'd have a problem on this ride. If you get motion sickness from watching home movies, you probably shouldn't ride it. Answer 1 of 18: I was reading about Soarin and it sounds really cool! Oh and took my Mom 78 yrs old. JavaScript is disabled. (I'm the complete opposite.

There are three rows of seats, each row moves forward and up towards a screen. DLR/DCA: 7/04, 7/06, 8/07, 8/08, 12/09, & 7/10 . My mom has decided to join us for a couple of days of our trip. / PhotoPass+?Can you tell me more about refillable mugs at Disney World? She has not been to Disneyland in over 30 years! 09-09-2009, 08:54 AM #10. There is nothing to fear here. Don't look down again!"

It is not for everyone, especially those that fear heights or the sensation of falling.I can't say that it was scary exactly. This is a must do ride. It's pretty short so it's over quickly. We were put in the first row and the lift up was so smooth I didn't think we were up very high till I looked down at the floor. The ride starts and you are lifted a little ways off the ground and watch an Imax-type screen (not as big I don't think) that shows aerial photos of California as if you were hand gliding. As for the other Space mission ride that people are mentioning on this thread:- As my family and I stood in line we were reading all the warning notices about sickness and spinning etc and nearly opted for the easier (orange?)

(well never done one-but scared at the thought. It's such an amazing experience that you forget that you are up high at all.

You sit in swings and it gives you the feeling of flying over different areas of California in a hang glider.
