This is a friends to lover type book and I felt the author did. Her boss dismisses her. When her ex Nate shows up with a new girlfriend, Fiona devises a plan to win him back: pretend head chef Derek is her new boyfriend. Problem is they're holding back their true feelings for one another because they're not sure how the other person feels. It took me a long time to get into this book, and I think it's because I wasn't sure who the love interest was supposed to be so it made it hard for me to cheer on the characters.

She finds a spider in her shower, breaks her favorite Louboutin’s, gets fired from her job, and walks in on her boyfriend of three years in bed with her so-called best friend. Haven and Spencer have been friends since they were in diapers and when you have that kind of friendship with someone...you know...that one person you can completely be yourself with, why would you want to mess that up with becoming lovers? Spencer is a decent guy willing to let his best friend move in with him after her life unravels.What a wonderful story. 2 of 2 people found this review helpful.
