Arran Distillery was commissioned by the Isle of Arran Distillers in 1995 and lies amid stunning scenery just to the south of Lochranza on the northern tip of the Isle of Arran. The boundary fault line also runs directly across the Isle of Arran creating a unique micro-climate, earning it the affectionate name of ‘Scotland in Miniature’. Barra Gin is created with carrageen seaweed, collected on the wild shores of the Isle of Barra, sourced naturally from the clear waters that surround the Isle of Barra. Caramelised citrus and tropical notes on a background of toasted oak have created an intense, well rounded dram with charm and personality. Today the Isle of Arran Distillery is one of Arran's main visitor attractions, and by far the largest outside Brodick. The distillery, at Lochranza in the north of Arran, came into production in August 1995, and working capital was provided by the issue of 2,500 'Founder's Bonds'.
